RESIDENTIAL BAR + WINE CELLAR PROJECT

Previous clients of ours reached out to us when they began an extension to their main residence. They were creating a much-wanted addition to their home: a bar, wine cellar and pool room- the ultimate entertaining zone meant for connection, family gatherings and after-dinner drinks in front of the fireplace.
The goal was to keep the feel of the room welcoming, warm, and not too dark- a space that could be enjoyed as equally throughout the day as in the evenings. The clients had selected their hardwood flooring, so we built on this base a warm, welcoming feel with the mid-strength timber cabinetry and the incredible Patagonia Quartzite sourced from Fine Stone Granite & Marble. The creams, salmons and inky blacks echo the tones of the dry, rural farming landscape outside.
The bar includes draft beer, wine fridges and a patina glass mirror. The backlit Quartzite glows and transforms the space at night into an energizing, atmospheric entertainment hub. Through the bar is a magnificent, temperature-controlled wine cellar, which holds roughly 1200 bottles. The cleansing, woody smell of Sandalwood greets you as you enter; the wine racking made from Western Red Cedar releases fragrant aromas. Daniel from The Wine Cellar Co did a wonderful job with the installation of the cellar. We sourced red brick facings for the flooring for a textural, rustic feel underfoot.
The leather barstools and Chesterfield sofas were sourced and imported from Maitland Smith, in the US. The leathers have been vegetable tanned and the mahogany hand carved; the quality and detail of these pieces is just divine.
We designed and sourced many pieces for this project remotely, and on its completion we were invited to christen it with a celebratory drink. It was so special to help create this magnificent entertaining space that the family will enjoy for many years.
