HAMPTONS ON MOFFAT

The inspiration behind this project was Walter, the clients’ fabulous, well-travelled flamingo, who naturally deserved his very own custom-made display shelf. Walter accompanied his owners on their long stints working and travelling overseas, and he was ready to simply rest, slow down and oversee the ocean views of Moffat Beach.

To bring a timeless Hamptons look to this beautiful beachfront apartment, we designed and installed stately, Hamptons-style two-pack cabinetry with a rounded end that mirrors the curves of the architecture. The curved cabinetry also accentuates our hero piece: our round, custom-made boucle sofa. The sofa makes the space feel much larger and the curves lend a relaxed, informal feel to this apartment which serves as a beachfront getaway. Fun Fact: The lounge had to be craned in over the balcony, I may or may not have lost years off my life watching this, time will tell!

We decorated the rooms with Hamptons-inspired blues and florals, adding a refined, coastal charm that perfectly suits this luxury beachfront apartment. Fabrics by Cassandra Harper adorn the throw cushions, and the delightful mahogany Chippendale stools feature an ornate pattern that softens the kitchen cabinetry. We paired the white rattan dining chairs with the existing dining table and refreshed the alfresco furniture.

Testimonial from our Moffat Beach Clients:

“Today marks our third anniversary of working with Sophie from Coco Interiors—and what a journey it has been.

It all began with a video call while we were still living in Boston, planning our return home and dreaming about how to renovate, update and rejuvenate our beach property at Moffat Beach. From that very first conversation, we knew Sophie was the right person for the job—and we were absolutely right.

What followed was a wonderfully collaborative (and at times slightly chaotic!) process of redesigning spaces and reimagining our home. Somehow, Sophie managed to work seamlessly around our rather unpredictable schedule—moving between the US and Australia—while keeping everything on track. To this day, we’re not entirely sure how she did it, she even managed to make a place for our wonderful flamingo lamp “Walter”

Like many projects of that time, we faced supply delays and constant changes. We would fall in love with a chair, only to discover it was either unavailable or six months away. What could have been frustrating instead became just another moment where Sophie would calmly say, “Let me see what I can do”—and then, somehow, she would do it.

Her “can do” attitude was a standout, but it was her attention to detail that truly brought everything together. From fabrics, rugs and blinds to cabinetry, custom furniture and those thoughtful finishing touches we didn’t even know we needed—every element was considered, and it shows.

The greatest compliment we can give is this: it has now been 15 months since completion, and we haven’t moved, changed or added a single thing. Not one cushion. Not one chair. It was perfect from the day she handed it over—and it still is.

In fact, we enjoyed the experience so much that we immediately embarked on a second project together—this time a full renovation. Now working with both Sophie and her husband Ben, we are only a quarter of the way through, yet everything is running so smoothly that we feel completely comfortable heading away for a few months and leaving it in their hands.

This is more than a recommendation—it’s a genuine reflection of a wonderful experience. Sophie brings warmth, creativity, calm and just the right amount of persistence to every project. Quite simply, she makes the whole process not only successful, but genuinely enjoyable.

Kindest of Regards

Noel & Helen MacCarthy”
